Frango - DF

Frango is a dance that deals with heteronormative issues imposed on the body. It’s the growing chick. It is the fragility repressed in the body. It’s the being created for consumption. It’s rubber meat. It’s the loser. It’s the invention of an animal. The work problematizes the ways in which the body has been tamed and docilized to fit into unreachable social standards and protocols, such as the ideals of youth, strength, beauty and economic power. The solo stresses some types of standardized bodies: the macho man, the pumper up man, the gogoboy, the fitnnes man, the model of the fashion circuit, the teenager heartthrob, the olympic champion, the athlete, among other hegemonic ways that reinforce a male ideal body.
